Upcoming change to your bin collection
The District Council of Yankalilla’s waste collection schedule is changing
To better serve the region, the bin collection schedule will swap weeks starting Monday, 28 July 2025.
While your collection day will remain the same, the waste streams will swap weeks.
To ensure a smooth transition, all three bins (blue/red, yellow, and green) will be collected during the first week of the change :
- Week starting the 28th of July: All three bins (blue/red, yellow, and green) will be collected
- Week starting the 4th of August: Blue and red bins (general waste and exceptional circumstances [EC]) will be collected
- Week starting the 11th of August: Yellow and green bins (recycling and FOGO) will be collected
- The schedule will then continue to alternate weekly.
Simon Grenfell, Executive Officer at Fleurieu Regional Waste Authority (FRWA), said:
“It’s exciting to be able to facilitate this change to provide a more efficient and consistent service to District Council of Yankalilla residents. During recycling weeks, we need double the number of trucks and drivers due to collecting both yellow and green recycling bins. This change allows us to even out the demand for trucks and drivers.”
The 2025-26 printed calendars highlighting the new schedule have now been delivered to street mail and PO boxes within the Council region. Check out these options to get a digital or printed calendar.
Here’s how you can access your calendar:
- Download the My Local Services App for weekly bin reminders
- Save a PDF or screenshot of your collection calendar at www.frwa.com.au
- Pick up a printed copy from your local Council office or Waste and Recycling Depot.
- Request a mail-out if needed.
We’re excited about this positive change and appreciate your support in helping us reduce waste and improve service for everyone.
