Kerbside Collections

Building a new home or new to the region?

New Resident information
Councils on the Fleurieu and Kangaroo Island have a three bin domestic collection service in place for urban areas and a two bin system in rural areas (no green FOGO bin). Each rateable property assessment, excluding vacant land, sheds and unfinished builds, is entitled to the fortnightly collection of one set of kerbside bins. Additional bin collection services are available.

Bins are collected fortnightly, alternating with one week landfill, and the other week yellow recycling and FOGO (in zoned areas). Residents in FOGO (food organics and garden organics) are encouraged to place all food, including meat, dairy, bones, prawn and oyster shells, tissues and paper towel in the lime lidded bin.

Please visit the Collection Calendar Downloads page to find your bin collection day and schedule.

Ratepayers and landlords and  are responsible for the initial purchase, replacement and maintenance of kerbside bins. If you are building a new house on Kangaroo Island, please contact Kangaroo Island Council on 8553 4500 to arrange your new bins (applies to new builds only).

Please note, if you have purchased an existing house, bins may not have been left at the property as the previous resident can take the bins as they own them. If you are renting a property, your landlord is responsible for providing your bins.

If your house is the first to be completed in the street, please call FRWA Customer Service on 8555 2467 to add your property to a collection run.
