Goolwa Depot FIRE update 17/10/25 5pm – REOPENING

Our amazing staff have made a monster effort, and we thank them for their tireless work.
We are excited (and relieved) to announce that the Goolwa Depot will be reopening this weekend – Saturday and Sunday, 9.00 am to 3.30 pm, then normal mid-week hours 8.30 am to 4.00 pm next week.
We will take all our usual waste types, including green organics and recycling. As half of the main shed was affected by the fire, we only have 3 of the original 6 general waste bays operational, so we suspect there may be short delays for people dropping off general waste at peak times.
We are still offering our half-price green waste disposal as planned this weekend. Due to last Sunday’s planned half-price green waste disposal day being cancelled by the fire closure, we will extend the offer to next weekend for the Goolwa Depot.
Please remember that any batteries in bins or depot waste are dangerous, including all tiny button and hearing aid batteries, standard batteries like double A’s and C as well as lithium batteries. Please be vigilant and look out for embedded batteries which may not be visible in items like electric tooth brushes, vapes, remote control toys, power tools, stick vacuums and rechargeable wearables like watches and ear buds/phones.
It’s free to safely dispose of batteries at all FRWA Depots as well as over 5000 locations Australia-wide (search bcycle).
We thank all people who do the right thing with batteries, and ask everyone to please help keep our staff and community facilities safe.
