Supporting food service businesses across the Fleurieu to recycle food waste.
In line with FRWA’s commitment to diverting organic and compostable waste from landfill, FRWA has introduced a weekly food waste recycling program for food service establishments across its mainland councils: Alexandrina Council, the City of Victor Harbor, the District Council of Yankalilla and Kangaroo Island.
The collected green waste is turned into valuable compost to reduce both business costs and environmental impact.
- Support sustainable food service business practices by providing businesses within the region access to a cost effective weekly food waste collection service.
- Diverts food waste away from landfill into the green organics stream where it is made into valuable compost.
- Improves environmental outcomes for the Fleurieu regional community by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
